Yesss! It's finally strawberry season. What better way to celebrate than with a new version of salsa! I've combined fresh spearmint, basil, cilantro, scallions and jalapeno with a touch of lemon zest and smoked salt for a perfectly satisfying bite.

Most of the time when strawberries are in season they don't last long enough for me to think beyond wash and eat! Is there anything better than popping them in your mouth when they'...

My purple cabbage was calling to me from the nether regions of the back of the fridge. I thought of making a confetti slaw (which I love!), but also wanted to use the broccoli just harvested. I've tasted some scrumptious broccoli salads and some awful ones too... which is not helping me convince anyone to try more cruciferous vegetables.

But then there's that other little matter with eating raw cruciferous vegetables. Le...

If you’re a little confused lately about any health benefits turmeric might provide, you’re certainly not alone. From Kris Gunnars gushing about the tuber’s 10 proven health benefits on  Authority Nutrition to the more recent article in Quartz Media, “Forget what you’ve heard: Turmeric seems to have zero medicinal properties” and a plethora of scientific articles in between, figuring out whether or not a liberal sprinkling of...

Follow me here too!

Hi there, I'm Catherine!

I'm so happy you stopped by my little corner of the internet. So, are you hungry? Me too! What to eat, is the question. As an organic produce grower, classically trained personal chef who eats mostly plants, and a dietetics student, I'm always thinking about food.... how it looks, smells, tastes, makes us feel and affects our environment. I regularly geek out on the science behind what makes plants scrumptious and why we should eat more of them. I love to share my experiments with YOU! So grab an apron, sharpen your knife and let's go!

 Views from my lens.
