Today marks the close of American Heart Month 2018. However, with heart disease still the leading cause of death for both men and women world-wide, and national trends showing death rates from heart disease are actually increasing in younger adults, age 35-64 years old, EVERY DAY is an opportunity to fight against this sobering statistic.

Planning meals that include plenty of heart-healthy ingredients can be EASY, DROOL-WORTHY...

Who says coleslaw has to be stodgy, bland or drowning in mayonnaise? When you don't limit yourself to green cabbage and orange carrots, a world of possibilities awaits! I wanted to make a slaw to serve with my Caulifish & Chips, but was intent on making one that included plenty of color, crunch, a bit of tang and just a touch of sweetness. Rummaging through the fridge, I found the perfect components... both green and red cabb...

I've really been LOVING experimenting with dressings and sauces that don't include any added sugar, oil or dairy, yet are PACKED full of flavor. It's also difficult to choose a favorite. Follow me here too!

Hi there, I'm Catherine!

I'm so happy you stopped by my little corner of the internet. So, are you hungry? Me too! What to eat, is the question. As an organic produce grower, classically trained personal chef who eats mostly plants, and a dietetics student, I'm always thinking about food.... how it looks, smells, tastes, makes us feel and affects our environment. I regularly geek out on the science behind what makes plants scrumptious and why we should eat more of them. I love to share my experiments with YOU! So grab an apron, sharpen your knife and let's go!

 Views from my lens.
